Jerry Eicher
Jerry used to own or run the Sohio station on State St. He always made my dad laugh. My dad's Stude Hawk always took Forever to fill the gas tank, something wrong with the gas filler pipe. So one day dad pulls in for gas, and out comes Jerry to 'fill'erup'. Only this time, he brings out a little stool, and sits down to pump the gas. That broke my dad up. He really laughed. It became a regular routine, and Jerry always got my dad to laugh. Thank you for that Jerry! ---- Ron Robinson Jerry was always concerned with providing for his family. When he closed the gas station , he looked far and wide for a job and would do whatever he could find. Jerry started a shuttle service taking people to places they needed to go. Widows to the grocery store and others to the airport. Jerry treated it as a real job and was so very courteous and gentlemanly about helping people in and out of his van and taking care of bags. I also had Jerry run to the airport to pick up medical experts coming from out of town to testify and then return them to the airport. Each and every Doctor he transported called or wrote me to let me know how they enjoyed him as he took them to their destination. I heard about some of the jokes but I also heard what a gentleman he was. Whenever Jerry took Elaine and I to the airport he and I talked of memories in Girard and shared stories about our mutual friends and, of course, he made Elaine and I laugh and laugh and laugh. I will miss him… no, I DO miss him.---Ronald A. Marks Jerry was one of the persons who made past reunions happen. Always up, always positive, and always proud of his classmates. That is how I remember Jerry. We all miss him ----Ed DeChant A few years back, while I was still practicing law Joe Horvat was in town and wanted Elaine and I to join him and Ann for diner. I suggested Jerry and Martha join us. The six of us went to the Olive Garden on 422. When I headed for home my sides hurt. I don’t believe I laughed so much for so long in my entire life. I just sat there as Joe and Jerry entertained us(with everyone in the Olive Garden listening) story after story, one liner after one liner, one upping the other, over and over ,the entire night. These were two good men, Joe and Jerry both of whom beginning in the early years have had a special place in my heart and my life. ---Ron Marks
